Proper dating of medications is crucial to efficacy and resident safety, in addition to being a focus item of many surveyors.
Practitioners know the importance of proper dating, but circumstances can often get in the way, like not having a calendar handy to make the proper expired medication calculation and/or not having medication reference available that indicates a medication’s expiration. Good intentions to mark the medication later may often be forgotten in the rush to meet the higher priority of pressing resident care needs.
The Expired Medications Dating Intro Kit combines the unique new ExpiDater® tool that enables you to calculate expired dates with several clinical reference cards that provide medication expiration information for a wide variety of medications used in senior care.
The Expired Medications Dating Intro Kit consists of:
The ExpiDater® Medication Expiration Date Calculator is an innovative tool that allows health care practitioners to quickly and accurately determine the expiration date of medications that have ‘shortened’ expiration dating.
Medications commonly used in senior care facilities are listed by brand and generic name and organized by drug class to provide expiration reference that includes special storage requirements like refrigeration, re-use info, when to discard and much more.
Featured in this card is a crosswalk that lists inhaled medications and current manufacturer insert information including spacing between puffs, therapeutic class, type of inhaler, priming, and expiration or “Beyond Use Dates”.
This ready-reference card provides insulin product details such as brand/generic medication names, appearance, onsets, peak, duration, compatibility guidelines, and expiration dates.
Healthcare professionals that could benefit from the Expired Medications Dating Intro Kit with ExpiDater® include:
